light and space — SULAI LOPEZ

  • Rows of carved stone grinding bowls laid out on the ground
  • Two wheel tracks of a dirt road through dry grass
  • Blue-painted houses seen from above, two children on a rooftop
  • A field of orange poppies and yellow wildflowers
  • Dark rocks and brush in silhouette against a pale sky, in black and white
  • Pink and purple wildflowers in front of a stone lion-head carving, mountains behind
  • A statue of a mermaid against a pink sky
  • A room wall hung with a red tutu, photographs and a skeleton poster, in warm light
  • A window with clothes hanging to dry, seen in soft blurred black and white
  • Sunlight falling across the tracks of a dark station
  • A sandstone church tower against a blue sky, seen from below between dark walls
  • A furniture shop's corner building with a leaning palm tree in front
  • Window light falling across a bed and pillows, in black and white
  • A small bedroom with a painted chest of drawers and an unmade bed by a curtained window
  • Pontoon boats moored on a lake under a dark sky, green lawn in front
  • A pile of large boulders under a pale sky, in black and white
  • A row of houses on a plain beneath red mesas and storm clouds
  • A cluttered dressing table with a camera, a feather, a Rumi book and small keepsakes
  • A new concrete building beside a pile of gravel and stacked blocks
  • Green ivy spreading over a peeling yellow wall
  • A narrow gap between two huge sandstone boulders
  • Palm trees reflected in still water, in black and white
  • Stone pillars of an old temple, a hazy view between them, in black and white
