About
Sulai Lopez is a painter, weaver, natural dyer, actress and costume designer/art director based in the mountains of Topanga Canyon and high desert of Joshua Tree California.
She has worked on feature films, viral web series, music videos, commercials, and elementary school musicals and won two Streamy awards for “best costume design on the internet”.
Her weavings and fiber art is made from wool roving hand dyed with natural pigments. The dying process alone takes 2-3 days.
The quiet intimacy of studying a face and capturing body language inspires her portrait paintings. A highlight in her portfolio is a portrait series of 52 homeless youth done in collaboration with My Friend’s Place, a resource center for homeless youth in Los Angeles.
