My Friend’s Place is a non profit resource center and safe haven for the houseless youth community In Los Angeles California. After being involved with MFP for 8 years as a volunteer, teaching artist, and friend, I began a year long series of 52 live sitting oil pastel portraits. Each session was completed in two hours, we’d share stories, listen to music, sit three feet away and stare at each other. As a documentation of that particular day, I etched into the drawing the answer to the question, “Where are you going tonight?”
